VIDEO: NASA Celebration Handshake Goes VIRAL

This is one dope shake for man...

NASA scientists have to understand the science of trajectory of objects — how to get the firing of missiles and rockets to their intended targets with a good peaceful arc and a simple direction. These things have to be precise, as to avoid accidents, with the touchdown of objects being handled sensitively and deftly. Perhaps not surprisingly, this is also the necessary arc for a little something called the high five. A high five that was part of a celebratory handshake for these NASA employees after the InSight Mars Lander successfully landed on the red planet. Check out the gif of the handshake below, and be awed at the scientific minds at work!

As NASA explained — the journey of the InSight Mars Lander took seven months as it traveled 300 million miles. The lander will explore beneath the surface of Mars to try to figure out how planets form. According to NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine, as quoted on

“Today, we successfully landed on Mars for the eighth time in human history. InSight will study the interior of Mars, and will teach us valuable science as we prepare to send astronauts to the Moon and later to Mars. This accomplishment represents the ingenuity of America and our international partners and it serves as a testament to the dedication and perseverance of our team. The best of NASA is yet to come, and it is coming soon.”

No statement was made on the incredible science of the high five which will no doubt revolutionize how high fives are formed in our world, but I am sure more research is forthcoming from scientists daring enough to procure such research!

Apparently the handshake itself was based on a celebratory one from the Kansas City Chiefs! The football, much like a rocket… well… I’m no scientist… flies through the air, you see…
