Ever wanted to know what it was like to hike a gorgeous mountain trail for five months? Smell the pine and feel the fresh air in your lungs, away from the distractions of modern life? Well for those of us whose greatest accomplishment this week was watching four seasons of SVU and ordering enough Pizza Hut for a nuclear family, this video from YouTuber “Halfway Anywhere” is the next best thing.

Although the Pacific Crest Trail (most famously featured in the Reese Witherspoon film “Wild”) takes almost half a year to complete, the video captures its enormity in just three minutes. Maybe because YouTube won’t let you upload five month long videos, but probably because they know the average internet user’s attention span rivals that of a bird with a head wound.

If you’re thinking of taking on PCT, Halfway Anywhere’s blog has plenty of info, including this article which I would’ve titled “17 Reasons To Stay The #$%& Away From The Pacific Crest Trail.

I’m not big on the outdoors, but some of this footage is so gorgeous it has me rethinking my strict “no inclines without an escalator” policy. The trail covers a huge portion of the United States, from the Mexican to Canadian border, and includes 2,663 miles of purple mountain majesties and amber waves of grain.

The video was originally uploaded on June 24th of this year, but is picking up steam this week with almost 250,000 views. Some of the best shots are the gorgeous waterfall at 2:24 and this man’s weird ukulele at 1:10.
