  • We always like us some Amy Schumer at What’s Trending. Not quite ready to hand her the Feminist of the Century Award, but we like her – and she does say things that Hollywood needs to hear sometimes.

Over the weekend at the Critics’ Choice Awards, Amy Schumer received the MVP Award for her movie “Trainwreck.” “I am plus-plus-sized actress Amy Schumer,” she began as she accepted the award from producer Judd Apatow.

She was allowed to go on for a good five minutes in the hope it would result in some comedy/viral gold. For the most part it was just weird and rambly, but she did have some quotable moments.

“Thank you for this trophy covering the reason I had to write my own shit,” she said, motioning to her average-sized belly. “If you’re an actress and you have this area right here, you have to write your own stuff, if you want to get it made.”

She added, “This is where I get really ‘brave,’ as everyone said after my Annie Leibovitz photo. That’s what you want people to say when a naked photo of you goes viral. You want them to say, ‘What a brave photo.’ You’re like, thanks.”

It’s both funny because Schumer managed to become the poster child for “plus sized” actresses in Hollywood and has to deal with the same nonsense all the time, and a little annoying because she’s a tall, well-proportioned, attractive blonde woman who can pull off a typical Hollywood look when she wants to.
