  • It’s a really great idea.

What Vessel is doing with YouTube, what everyone is trying to do right now, only with music: They’re offering exclusive releases of new content to the fans via a paid platform that will allow artists to monetize their songs better.

It’s a really great idea. This coupled with the fact that, unlike Spotify, Tidal will have all of Taylor Swift’s catalog (which is news because of Taylor Swift’s recent move of pulling all her music from Spotify).

Tidal will also launch with a stream of huge-name artists supporting it, along with possibly even some tracks from some of them.

The artists (huge names like Daft Punk, Kanye West, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga, Arcade Fire, Calvin Harris, Miley Cyrus, Madonna and more) who we will ostensibly get some new music from, have even all changed their official Twitter profiles to match the color of the brand and have tweeted with the hashtag #TIDALforALL.

  • So not only do we get a new streaming service where paying the inflated price of $19.99/month, as opposed to Spotify’s $9.99/month will be worth it because of getting new music first, but the service is also an audiophile’s answer to streaming music because Tidal is touting a “lossless” version of the music.

If you’re anything like me, you always put your Spotify up to stream the highest quality, and even then it is only as good as what you get off iTunes.

If Tidal manages to stream a “lossless” version of their music it means that we will be getting clearer, better-sounding versions of songs that we’re all used to streaming at a much lower quality.

Updates to follow after today’s 5pm ET press conference on the matter.

    This is pretty exciting.
