  • Yesterday, President Obama used the N-word on a podcast, and people naturally flipped out about it. The conversation stemmed from the horrific mass shooting in a historic black church in Charleston, South Carolina. In discussing America’s racial scars, and the very real racism still present in America today, Obama didn’t pull any punches. CNN anchor Don Lemon agreed with the president’s use of the racial slur, and went even farther. On a segment on the news network on Monday, Lemon held up a Confederate flag and asked “Does this offend you?” He then held up a sign that had the N-word on it and asked the same question.

  • According to Lemon, CNN’s policy is that anchors may use the N-word if he or she “is comfortable saying the word.” (Here at What’s Trending, we are very much not comfortable with saying it, so we’ll stick with “N-word”.) Just like Obama did in a podcast with Marc Maron, Lemon was trying to point out “hey guys, this is real. This happens all the time. Racism doesn’t just disappear.”

But this is the Internet, so Lemon’s segment has turned into Photoshop fodder for Twitter. So take a look at some of these tweets and ask yourself, does this offend you?
