  • Maryland rapper, Logic, has just released another song off his upcoming album, Everybody due May 5.

Following the release of his first single Everybody, I knew Logic was going to come back and treat his fans to something different. The content of his new album, thus far, centers largely around his mixed race heritage and how he has learned to make sense of it all.

I ain’t ashamed to be white

I ain’t ashamed to be Black

I ain’t ashamed of my beautiful Mexican wife as a matter of fact

I know you f-cking with that

Those familiar with Logic know that the rapper has never been one to shy away from the topic of discrimination. As a rapper, Logic has often expressed the difficulties of not being accepted by either of his respective race communities. Fitting with the current times, Logic is tackling this topic head on with his new music in an effort to show that we’re all human; no matter how we identify, we are all the same.

In a recent interview with Genius, Logic broke down the meaning of Black SpiderMan stating, “Okay, so. Spiderman should be black. James Bond should be gay if he wants to. If we wanna make a gay James Bond, f-ck it. Why not? Why not?! F-ck it, you know what I’m saying? It’s 2017. Why not? Who gives a shit? Man, f-ck all this… accept diversity!”

  • Man, this is why I love Logic. The man is real and makes great music with a message. After the release of his summer mixtape, Bobby Tarantino, I had no idea Logic was planning to hit his fans with such deep content, but I have to admit I am loving the sound of this song. Something about it gives off a Childish Gambino vibe and I’m all for it.

If there is one thing that could have made this song better, it would have been a Gambino feature. All is well with Damian Lemar Hudson on the keys, however, so I’m not complaining.

This video is fun… and kind of gave me butterflies when I first watched it. It opens with Logic riding through a suburban neighborhood with a full gospel choir and transitions onto a sound stage with a ton of dancers and special guests.

YouTube makeup guru, Patrickstarrr, Khalid, and Juicy J all make an appearance.

The best part? The end of the video features two very high talking cats.

Though the lyrical content of Logic’s first two singles have been super similar, their sounds are distinct. I can’t wait to hear what the rest of his album has in store for us. Any Logic fans out there? Make sure to leave a comment below or @WhatsTrending on Twitter!
