  • Are you sitting down? Are you hungry? Are you ready to gorge yourself? If so, you might be ready to drive into the online video trend known as — Mukbang.

Mukbang literally means “eating broadcast” in Korean, and it’s a style of livestream where hosts binge-eat thousands of calories in a single sitting. It started in South Korea over a decade ago, but rose to prominence in the United States over the last few years, notably after the Fine Bros made YouTubers watch and react to Korea Mukbang videos.

Pretty soon, the western hemisphere thought: “Hey! I can do that. I can eat a ton on camera!” And now, their channels have become full-fledged YouTube sensations in their own right. So, to detail this viral trend, here are 5 Mukbangers you need to be watching.

  • 1. Keemi

Keemi has been eating on YouTube since September 2015. A Korean-American with over 650,000 subscribers, Keemi eats a fusion of American and Korean inspired dishes. For example, in this video, she scarfs down a Cheetos Sushi Burrito. Her fans don’t just like to watch her eat, however. They like to listen to her as well. Keep has a separate channel just for food-related ASMR.

  • 2. Trisha Paytas

On her channel, blndsundoll4mj, Trisha talks about her relationships, does some unboxing, etc. — and she routinely eats enough food to feed an entire family. But, people also like when she talks about what turns her on. It’s kind of a thing. Trisha was on YouTube for years before picking up on the Mukbang trend, but it definitely suits her well.

  • 3. Nikocado Avocado

This South American Mukbanger was a vegan before giving up on the diet in late 2016. But since then, it’s pretty much cheese all the time. Fun fact: Nikocado has two pet parrots who frequently have a front row seat to her “chowdowns.”

  • 4. Erik The Electric

Erik is one of the most extreme Mukbangers out there — always pushing the limits of what one person can digest in a single sitting. In the video above he tries to take down over 10,000 calories worth of Taco Bell! There was also that time he ate 20,000 calories worth of Halloween candy. Watching all this can get a little unsettling, but hey — if you can eat over 5,000 calories a day and still weigh 170 lbs. — more power to you!

  • 5. Wendy from Wendy’s Eating Show

Wendy’s show started in 2016 as a Mukbang/ASMR hybrid but has since expanded to focus on fast food and mounds of snacks. Wendy also runs a personal blog and has a separate Mukbang channel for Spanish language fans.
