BeReal has announced a new feature titled RealEvents that will be kicking off at Coachella.
A large component of BeReal is sharing day-to-day moments that many miss when spending our time scrolling social media and looking at other people’s content.
The new feature created in BeReal details that anyone can join – whether they’re there in person or watching from afar. The brand noted that Tinashe will be one of many celebrities for its first event at none other than Coachella.
Each event on the platform will be able to trigger its own notification to BeReal notification for anyone following the RealEvent. All attendees (in person or virtually) can share and view posts in the custom RealEvent timeline.
Each event will also have its very own along timeline with a shareable video recap featuring some of the best content from the event. BeReal claims that this will create a shared connection for all the people participating in the RealEvent via a unique moment in time together.
After Coachella, BeReal will be accepting varying event partners, from intimate concerts to sports arenas, fashion shows, movie premieres, and more.
The platform notes in their blog post that there will be many celebrities participating in the activation at Coachella to kick off the new feature.

As of late, the social media platform announced beginning February 6, celebrities and brands will officially join regular users on the app. They’ll be given verified accounts, and they’ll appear in the app as “RealPeople” or “RealBrands.” Regular users will be able to follow these official accounts (as “RealFans”) and engage with them by tagging them in posts; the celebrities and brands can then re-share their fans’ posts in their feeds.
“You’re going to discover what the biggest celebrities are doing behind the scenes at the exact same time as you,” says BeReal’s chief operating officer Romain Salzman.
Every day at a random time, the app’s 23 million have received notifications prompting them to take two photos in rapid succession, one using the phone’s main camera and one using the selfie camera, with just two minutes to complete the task.
Unlike on TikTok and Instagram, celebrities and brands on BeReal have not be able to edit their posts with filters, nor will have they been able to pre-plan or schedule their posts.
Salzman added, “We wanted to be aligned with our DNA and the way to do that was to make sure that the celebrities and brands play by the exact same rule as the users do.”
