In a new cover story interview for ELLE, English-Albanian pop star Dua Lipa spoke about her family’s love for partying.
The “Hallucinate” singer stated that she once ran into her parents Anesa and Dukajin at a nightlcub in New York City.
Speaking to the outlet, the pop star went out with singer-songwriter Charli XCX in the city’s Lower East Side and saw her parents at a nightclub known as The Box.
Lipa noted that as some would be embarrassed to see their parents, instead she embraced the moment.
“We celebrate everything and anything, and we just love a party,” she said.
“When I go to my aunt’s house, it all starts off pretty tame,” continued Lipa, “Then the music comes on, and we’re all dancing in the house. And that’s a Tuesday!”
The “Houdini” singer also reflected on her time in the nightclubs over the years.

“When I started [songwriting], I worked at La Bodega Negra, a Mexican restaurant that looked like a sex shop,” she detailed.
“I’d finish work, then go out to whatever nightclub was happening until, like, three in the morning,” added Lipa. “Then I would wake up and go to the studio until I had my shift again at, like, 8 P.M. The music I [made] was reflective of my every day, or every night.”
The star also admitted that she gave her thoughts on the claims that she is constantly on vacation. Some call the singer a “Vacanza Queen” on socials as the reputation that she is on a beach or a resort somewhere around the world.
“I’ve been busy for almost 10 years,” said Lipa. “Every single day, I’ve had some bit of work to do. But people are going to say something anyway. People say a lot of mean things about a lot of people.”
She candidly quipped that if fans want to poke fun at her travels by giving her a nickname, “then I’ll take it.”
“Whether I’m performing or going out, if it’s not fun, I don’t want it,” explained Lipa. “You have to make room for joy. The world can be burning down, but goddamn…if you didn’t spend any of your life trying to be happy, I don’t know what you’ve done.”
