Gwyneth Paltrow is letting everyone know that she has made some big sacrifices in order to raise her kids.

While appearing on the Today show, the 51-year-old star was asked if she had any movies she had to turn down in her past.

Speaking about raising her daughter Apple, 19, and Moses, 18, she shared that there were a few to say no to in order to raise her kids.

“There were a lot,” Paltrow admits.

“I mean it’s funny because it didn’t feel like a sacrifice to me at the time, but if I look back at it through a cultural lens, I think like, wow, if people know that I didn’t do this movie or that movie, they’d be quite shocked,” says the mom of two.

The star shares her two children with ex-husband Chris Martin.

Speaking to PEOPLE back in November for a cover story, the actress also shared that she hasn’t been in an entire movie since her daughter April was born.

“Well, it’s kind of ironic because I really stepped away from acting when Apple was born,” Paltrow told PEOPLE. “The last time I was in every scene of a movie was when I was pregnant with her.”

“When I had her, it just, everything felt redefined for me, and I thought, ‘I’m not sure that I want to do this so much as a career. I definitely don’t want to…I’m not going to go away for months on end.'”

The Goop founder also spoke to The Sunday Times and shared how she felt about her son Moses leaving for college in the near future.

“In the fall, Brad [Falchuk] and I have boys that will be going off to university,” Paltrow said of her son Moses and her husband’s son Brody. “It’ll be interesting to see how the morning routine changes with no kids in the house.”

“On the one hand, incredible sadness. A deep sense of impending grief,” the actress said of how she feels about the kids leaving. “On the other hand, this is exactly what should be happening.”

“Your kids are supposed to be, you know, young adults who can achieve and cope and make connections and be resilient. That’s exactly what you want. And that means they leave the house.”

Paltrow also went on to add that she has been so ‘defined’ and also enjoys the fulfillment from motherhood.

“It’s like the guiding force. It’s what I return to. I observe a lot of my friends who’ve had kids who’ve gone off to college. Your kid…it changes. And you know, they come home a lot and all that stuff, but it’s not quite the same as living under the same roof all the days of the year. So I’m just trying to be open to what that means.”
