Jennifer Lopez has opened up about her decision to cancel her upcoming This Is Me…Live tour, revealing the personal challenges that led to the cancellation. In a candid conversation with comedian Nikki Glaser for Interview magazine, published on October 9, the multi-talented singer and actress expressed her deep appreciation for her fans while explaining the necessity of taking time off.

“I can’t wait to get back out there,” said Lopez, 55. “I have the most understanding and loving fans in the world. Some fan bases can be spicy. Mine are just a bunch of lovers.” Her affection for her supporters was evident as she spoke about the emotional weight of her decision.

Lopez had initially planned to tour North America from June to August 2024 in support of her latest album, This Is Me…Now, which was released in February. However, she announced the cancellation in May, citing a need to focus on her family and personal well-being. “I was so devastated to let anybody down, but I just needed to be with my kids and myself and really dig down deep into things that were happening in my life,” she explained.

The cancellation came just months before she filed for divorce from her ex-husband Ben Affleck on August 20. Reflecting on this turbulent period, Lopez shared, “And I’m glad I did, because it was a really difficult time for me. Probably the hardest time of my life, but it was also the best time because I got to do that work on myself.” Her comments highlight the juxtaposition of personal struggle and growth, as she navigated through one of the most challenging chapters of her life.

Lopez’s decision to prioritize her family and personal health resonated with her fan base, many of whom expressed their support for her choices. “I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down,” she said in a statement released on her OntheJLo website at the time of the tour cancellation. “Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary.”

Her fans have remained understanding throughout this process, something Lopez deeply values. “I promise I will make it up to you, and we will all be together again,” she added, emphasizing her commitment to reconnecting with her audience in the future. “I love you all so much. Until next time…”

The This Is Me…Live tour was initially intended to celebrate her latest musical endeavor, and Lopez had been excited to perform for her fans. Despite the setback, she reassured Glaser during their interview that she intends to return to the stage soon. “I’ll be out there entertaining you and shaking my ass sooner than you know,” she quipped, showcasing her trademark confidence and determination.

Lopez’s ability to address both her vulnerabilities and her resilience speaks to her character as an artist. Her fans have witnessed her evolution over the years, from her rise to fame in the late ’90s to her enduring presence in the entertainment industry today. The upcoming tour would have marked another chapter in her storied career, but the decision to pause has allowed her to focus on what matters most—her family and personal well-being.

In the wake of her divorce from Affleck, Lopez has expressed a sense of liberation and newfound independence. “I’m not looking for anybody,” she remarked in a previous interview. This sentiment reflects her journey toward self-discovery and empowerment, as she embraces this new chapter of her life.
