Megan Thee Stallion is opening up about a significant revelation she made during her April 2022 interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings. In her new documentary, Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words, the Houston rapper candidly admits that she was not entirely truthful when discussing her relationship with Tory Lanez.

During the original interview, Megan, whose legal name is Megan Pete, denied having any sexual encounters with the Toronto artist. However, in her documentary, she reveals that the two were intimate “once, maybe twice.” “Yes, bih, I lied to Gayle King, bih,” she states in the film. “First of all, I didn’t know that bih was gon’ even ask me about that shi*t. We supposed to be talking about this shooting; why are you asking me about fking Tory?”

Megan expressed frustration with the focus on her relationship with Lanez instead of the shooting incident that had garnered widespread attention. “That’s not what this is about,” she continued. “Even if it was, I fked this nia like once, maybe twice, on a drunk night. Bih kept catching me out of my fking mind.”

This revelation comes in the context of the ongoing legal saga surrounding the shooting incident involving Lanez. During the trial, Megan admitted to the jury that she felt “embarrassed” about her past relationship with Lanez, especially in light of the violence she experienced. “I’m embarrassed because I’m a grown woman hanging with people I have no business hanging out with,” she said in court. “Now look at how everybody want to view me…. How could I share my body with someone who would shoot me… Now every week there’s an article calling me a ‘hoe.’”

Lanez attempted to introduce the nature of their relationship as a mitigating factor during the trial, arguing that tensions arose between Megan and her former friend Kelsey Harris when they discovered he was involved with both of them. However, the jury ultimately found Lanez guilty in December 2022 on three counts related to the shooting, including assault with a semi-automatic firearm, possession of a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The documentary aims to provide an in-depth look at Megan’s life and career, including her rise to fame, her experiences with trauma, and her ongoing efforts to reclaim her narrative. Throughout the film, she discusses the challenges she has faced, both personally and professionally, emphasizing her desire to be seen as a multifaceted individual rather than just a victim.

Megan’s story has resonated with many, sparking conversations about the treatment of women in the music industry and society at large. Her willingness to confront uncomfortable truths about her experiences is seen as a powerful statement against the stigma surrounding victims of violence.
