Chrissy Teigen is using Twitter to share more of her wisdom, and this time for an incredibly noble cause — to save the bees! One would think with their incredible stinging powers, ability to fly, and massive honey consumption, they would be a little more self sufficient, but folks, such is not the case, due to our destruction of the environment, and luckily Chrissy Teigen and her very great Twitter feed will save us. And what else will save us? Tiny bee hotels of course. How could anything else fill the void.

Chrissy retweeted Twitter user @everydaycormack to show off the latest design trend: mini bee hotels for your home! They’re called bricks can be used outside your house or in the garden to house solitary bees. Solitary bees, like most solitary humans, don’t produce honey or live in hives, and because solitary bees don’t have honey or a queen bee to protect, they don’t sting.

Solitary bees are responsible for one third of the food we eat because of their pollination. But solitary bees are in decline, and seven types of bees are considered endangered species. So, how do bee bricks help? The bricks serve as a habitat for bees to nest and lay eggs.

Companies like UK-based Green & Blue make bee bricks to help increase biodiversity. f you get a brick, make sure to place it in a warm, sunny spot facing south. Looking for other ways to #SaveTheBees? Plant bee-friendly flowers in your garden, like wildflowers and avoid using pesticides in your garden.

Plant a tree! That’s where bees get most of their nectar, and make sure to support local beekeepers by buying locally-made honey and beeswax products.

You can even sponsor a hive through the Honey Bee Conservancy. Visit their website for more!
