Pizza Hut Employees Smoke a Bong, Quickly Get Fired

It’s not like we’re really surprised that kids who work at Pizza Hut get stoned at work sometimes – we’d just rather ignore it and eat our trashy pizza in blissful ignorance, just like we want to keep believing that McDonald’s and Burger King are completely clean and FDA approved at all times. Stories like this one don’t help.

To ring in the new year, a couple of Pizza Hut employees in Cypress, California filmed themselves passing around a bong in the kitchen, while wearing their clearly identifiable Pizza Hut uniforms.

LiveLeak got ahold of the video somehow, and it became a huge trend on Facebook. Naturally, everyone involved quickly got fired. Eater.com reached out to Pizza Hut and received this official statement:

There is no tolerance for this kind of activity at any of our restaurants. The local franchise owner took swift action and the employees involved will no longer work for Pizza Hut.

Kind of sucks for the ex-employees, but it’s good fun for everyone who remembers this classic article from the Onion:

“From its creation at the hands of a stoned-out-of-his-mind pizzeria employee to its eventual consumption by a group of guys so unbelievably high they didn’t even realize they had mistakenly given the delivery driver a $20 tip, this pizza spent its entire existence in a dense cloud of marijuana fumes,” said pizza-industry watchdog Roger Dernier, who has been monitoring the link between pizza production and illegal drug use since 1991. “In the brief time this pizza spent on Earth, at no point did it come into contact with a single non-stoned human being.”
