Giada De Laurentiis recently stopped by the Ellen Degeneres Show to give Ellen and Nicole Kidman a cooking lesson, and got a response she was not expecting.
The ultimate goal was to make some tasty artichoke arancini and focaccia with clementines and fennel, and it did happen for the most part… minus the "tasty" part.
Being that this is the Ellen Degeneres Show the trio shared lots of laugh while they were cooking, but things got real when it came time to taste the food.
Everyone knows that it's not really possible to make an entire meal in a 5-minute segment on television, so short-cuts were taken as needed. Unfortunately, when it came time to taste the focaccia, Ellen and Nicole were not getting "fresh" food. The focaccia they tasted had been pre-made and was essentially serving as a model for the finished product.
Being the lovely host Ellen is, she took a bite, and though she may have struggled, she still managed to (sarcastically) give Giada a compliment.
Nicole on the other hand… well, that's a different story. When Nicole took a bite of the focaccia, she was not afraid to let Giada know she did not like it. "It's a little tough," said Kidman. "I know you're not meant to criticize, but it's a little tough."
It's one thing to make a comment, but Nicole couldn't even muster up the courage to swallow the piece of food.
Luckily, no feelings were hurt. At least I don't think they were. If you've ever seen one of GIada's shows you'll known she never stops smiling. She's just so positive that I doubt one five-hour old piece of focaccia brought her spirits down.
