Gunn followed up on Threads with photographer credit, “The above photo was taken on set by Jess Miglio and was entirely in-camera.” This means no Photoshop or digital effects have been used to enhance or alter the photo. While what’s happening in the background outside the set window certainly may have people’s attention, eagle-eyed fans wondering if Gunn would bring back the iconic red shorts get their answer as we can make out the trunks in the shadows. Not stopping there, Gunn is also firmly team bullet belt, which he previously hinted at on Threads, “I get a lot of ‘trunks or no trunks?’ questions, very few ‘bullet belt or no bullet belt?'” Belts really do tie everything together!

The director is no stranger to posting behind-the-scenes looks of his productions. He’s been teasing the costume design for a while, so it was only about time that fans got a look of Corenswet in full Superman regalia. To celebrate the first day of principal photography, Gunn posted a teaser of the suit back in February with a close-up of the symbol of hope and the caption, “Overjoyed to be announcing the start of principal photography on SUPERMAN today, February 29, which just so happens to be – coincidentally and unplanned – Superman’s birthday (!)”

Gunn explained the title change from the originally announced Superman: Legacy to just Superman, “When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film Superman: Legacy.  By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was SUPERMAN.  Making our way to you July 2025.” Superman will be a foundation of Gunn and co-chairman and co-CEO Peter Safran’s previously announced Chapter One: Gods and Monsters slate of projects in this partially reset DC Universe.
