YouTube-born songstress Marié Digby stopped by What's Trending to serenade the audience with a special, acoustic performance of her original song "Say It Again" and chat with Taryn Southern (filling in for Shira Lazar) about her upcoming album.
Marié Digby first gained the world's attention for her YouTube cover of Rihanna's "Umbrella" way back in 2007. It has not only scored over 20 million views to date, but also ended up on the Billboard Charts, the radio and, yes, an episode of "The Hills." Since then, Marié's released three full studio albums, launched a 17-episode web series on ABCMusicLounge.com, and recorded a Japanese cover album. But she's just getting started!
Marié's fourth album -- and first independent album -- is being produced right now, with a planned release in early 2013.
The singer/songwriter shares that the new record is influenced by artists who first inspired her to get into music, like Fiona Apple, Mazzy Star, and even some Nine Inch Nails.
In terms of the lyrics, Marié admits, "I talk about things that kind of make me uncomfortable, and that usually means I'm onto something right."
