First Trailer for Joe Swanberg’s “Happy Christmas”

“Drinking Buddies” director Joe Swanberg and star Anna Kendrick, are back with another movie!

This time around, Kendrick isn’t playing a character quite as….congnizant of her choices as her character Jill in “Drinking Buddies,” but I’m kind of excited to see Anna play a wreck for once. In “Happy Christmas” Kendrick plays Jenny, a 20-something just haphazardly bumbling through life who moves to Chicago to live with her brother Jeff who is played by the film’s director, Joe Swanberg.

The trailer also features Lena Dunham, Mark Webber, and Melanie Lynskey. Dunham playing the role of Carson, Jenny’s best friend. Webb as the family babysitter, and Lynskey as Jeff’s wife, Kelly.

For those unfamiliar, Swanberg and Kendrick worked together on “Drinking Buddies,” a movie following the only female employee at a local brewery in Chicago and her tumultuous relationship with relationships. The movie is available for streaming on Netflix.

However, I think the real star of this trailer and from what I hear, the real star of this past Sundance Film Festival, is Jude Swanberg. That’s right, this movie features on the rise director Joe Swanberg playing Dad to his real life son, Jude. The two make for an adorable pair.

Today was a big day for Anna Kendrick, with this trailer dropping and filming of the sequel to 2012’s underdog smash hit “Pitch Perfect” beginning today.

“Happy Christmas” will be available on iTunes on June 26th, and theaters July 25th. Looks like Swanberg and cast will actually be celebrating Christmas in July this year!
