  • During the taping of his broadcast today, Jon Stewart informed the live studio audience that he will be leaving The Daily Show, after having hosted the show since January 1999.

As first reported by The AV Club, Stewart will step down at some point this year. Comedy Central says the show will continue with a new host.

During the final three minutes of Tuesday night's episode, Stewart said he was going to have dinner "on a school night" with his family, something he likely has not done very often in his children's lifetimes.
