John Oliver & His Famous Friends Take On American Sex Education

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart may be over, but “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” is still here and still knocking it out of the park – like with this segment about America’s terrible track record with sex education in schools.

On Sunday night’s show, Oliver discussed the inconsistent and often unreliable sex education that kids receive in American schools, pointing out that only 22 states mandate that kids get sex education and only 13 require that the information taught is medically accurate.

 

“You wouldn’t accept a history class not being historically accurate,” he said. “‘Prince started the American Revolution in 1984, and his Purple Reign lasts until the present day! Class dismissed!’”

He backed up his point with some amazing/depressing sex ed videos – including a PSA starring a young Jonathan Banks aka Mike from “Breaking Bad” – and concluded with his own sex ed video starring Laverne Cox, Nick Offerman, Kristen Schaal, Megan Mullally and Kumail Najiani.
