Jimmy Kimmel is set to host the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards on September 23 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. With his own talk show and some event hosting gigs under his belt, Kimmel is no stranger to off the cuff or live performing.
"I hope to be able to do for the Emmys this year what Eddie Murphy did for the Oscars," Kimmel joked to EW. He also tweeted in response to the announcement: "thanks for your #Emmy hosting congratulations. I'll try not to embarrass us."
Also, remember when the funny man spoofed Melissa Leo's crazy "For Your Consideration" ads? Even though it was for the attention of the Academy, looks like Kimmel is being given his time to shine. With hosts often criticized for either being too soft or too brutal, can Kimmel find success in the high profile position?
