Tomorrow, the world’s second biggest hamburger chain is launching some new and revised menu items with a summer twist. The game-changer? Its Bacon Sundae, which sets itself up as a target for controversial press.
According to Burger King’s press release:
“The sweet and savory dessert features the rich and creamy vanilla BKÂ soft serve, drizzled with chocolate fudge, caramel and topped with bacon crumbles, complete with a thick-cut, hardwood smoked bacon garnish. (Suggested retail price starts at $2.49)”
The dessert — which apparently had a widely successful test run in Nashville, TN — racks up a rough 510 calories, 18 grams of fat and 61 grams of sugar. But who’s counting? At Burger King,”Taste Is King”!
The rest of Burger King’s summer menu includes the Memphis Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich, Carolina BBQ Whopper or Chicken Sandwich, Texas BBQ Whopper or Chicken Sandwich, sweet potato fries, and frozen Lemonade. And they’re all limited time offers so get them while supplies last!
Naturally, “Bacon Sundae” and “Burger King” are trending on Twitter in the United States, prompting a healthy amount of fat jokes.
