Their fall vacation plans were wiped out at the last minute, and thousands of West Coast travellers just had no idea they had been wiped out. Carnival Cruise Line has cancelled 11 cruises on one of the most popular ships in its network, covering departures at Long Beach, California, in October and November 2026. Norwegian has also cancelled several sailings during the same time. When you have a cruise booked, this is all you need to know, right now.
What Happened
Carnival cancelled all Firenze voyages between Long Beach, 11 12 October 2026 and 12 November 2026. It was a three-night and four-night trip to Baja Mexico, the short getaway West Coast families had been planning all along.
Why Canceled
The cancellations are associated with redploying fleets. It’s Firenze is projected to depart Long Beach completely in early 2027, repositioning to Miami, prior to settling permanently in New York City throughout the summer of 2027.

Norwegian Too
In November, several Prima and Breakaway sailings through March 2027 were also cancelled by Norwegian Cruise Line due to fleet redeployment. The affected passengers are getting complete refunds and an additional 10 per cent future cruise credit on future bookings.
Who Affected
The cancellations affect thousands of travelers in the West Coast who were especially inconvenienced by choosing Long Beach departures. The Baja Mexico cruises that are only a few days in length are of particular interest to the residents of Southern California who have a short-lasting need to have a low-cost getaway right in their home vicinity.
Your Options

The two alternatives available to affected passengers include rebooking a similar sailing at their original rate of cruise fare or a full refund of cruise fare, and all pre-packaged shore excursions, as well as the non-refundable deposits.
Refund Timeline
Those passengers who fail to take any action before March 25 will automatically have their bookings cancelled and refunded. Depending on your bank and mode of payment, the timeframe for getting a refund is up to three weeks.
Act Fast
Rebookers before March 25 2026, will be given fifty dollars onboard credit up to 100 dollars per cabin. Call Carnival on its own, or call on your travel advisor to book this bonus.
Industry Reality
The cruise industry is used to sending the fleets away and bringing them back. The timing is what hurts here, though, as the fall trips are planned months in advance by families and couples intending to spend holiday getaways, and now they are at our mercy.
Mexico Factor
Security issues raised in February raised fears over Mexican ports such as Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán. Some of these routes diverted the itineraries of the Mexican Riviera, which were further disruptive to already strained cruise travellers of the West Coast.
Smart Move
Call Carnival right now and amend your booking and choose before March 25. To avert the occurrence of a similar situation, travel insurance is highly advised by travel advisors before any future cruise engagement.
