11-Year-Old Pregnant Girl Gives Birth; Becomes UK’s Youngest Mom

An 11-year-old girl has given birth–and is now reportedly the United Kingdom’s youngest mom. According to the Sun, she was pregnant for “more than 30 weeks”, which is nine less than a standard full-term pregnancy and seven less than an early-term pregnancy.

Apparently, the girl’s family had no idea that their 11-year-old was pregnant.

A source who knows the family told the Sun: “It has come as a big shock. She’s now being surrounded by expert help. The main thing is that she and the baby are OK. There are questions around why people did not know. That is very worrying.”

Social services and the police are investigating. Many on social media speculate that someone raped the 11-year-old.

Chances are she didn’t get pregnant as a virgin. She was statutorily (or perhaps literally) raped repeatedly as a ten year old.

Her guardians need to be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

I’m pretty sure he was suggesting coercing or forcing a minor into having an abortion which is illegal in the U.S., all 50 states. It’s probably illegal in England too. No woman should be forced or coerced to have an abortion. That would also not be pro-choice at all.

Two decades ago, it was rare for girls to get their first periods before the age of 12; now over half of American females experience their first period by age 12. Although some on Twitter claim the 11-year-old’s pregnancy is “a record not to beat”, the downward trend of age at first period and the inevitability of creeps willing to take advantage of kids ensures otherwise.
