John Oliver Dive-Bombs Predator Drones

According to “Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver, unmanned drone strikes – a practice initiated in 2002 – will go down in history as one of the hallmarks of the Obama Administration, alongside Obamacare (and unsolicited e-mail forwards from distant relations.) This lays the groundwork for yet another memorable comic editorial from the influential HBO series, which has been praised recently for combining comedy alongside actual investigative journalism.

Comedian Patton Oswalt is among those who have spoken out in support of “Last Week Tonight” and its new take on the comedy/news format pioneered by “The Daily Show” (where Oliver is a former correspondent and guest host) and “The Colbert Report” on Comedy Central.

He singled out this ‘drones’ commentary in particular as evidence that Oliver should get a new job with CNN.
