The newly renamed Actor Awards, formerly the Screen Actors Guild Awards, are already reshaping the 2026 awards season.
Nominations were unveiled Wednesday morning by Abbott Elementary star Janelle James and Heated Rivalry breakout Connor Storrie, revealing a historic showing for One Battle After Another, which led all films with a record-breaking seven nominations.
The Warner Bros. action epic earned nods for cast ensemble, stunt ensemble, and five individual acting nominations, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn, Teyana Taylor, and Chase Infiniti. With seven total bids, the film now holds the most nominations in the ceremony’s history, according to Variety.

Close behind is Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, which scored five nominations and is emerging as the season’s passion pick. The two films will face off in the coveted cast ensemble category alongside Frankenstein, Hamnet and Marty Supreme.
On the television side, The Studio dominated with five nominations, including ensemble comedy and acting nods for Seth Rogen, Ike Barinholtz, Kathryn Hahn and Catherine O’Hara.

Netflix led all networks overall with 12 nominations, followed by Apple TV and HBO Max. Notably, the final season of Stranger Things was shut out of major acting categories, though it did land a stunt ensemble nomination.
The nominations also highlighted a continued pattern: non-English-language films were absent across all acting categories. Joachim Trier’s acclaimed Norwegian drama Sentimental Value failed to secure any nominations, despite strong awards-season expectations.
The Actor Awards are widely viewed as one of the strongest Oscar bellwethers. Since the ensemble category was introduced in 1995, more than three-quarters of ensemble nominees have gone on to receive best picture nominations at the Academy Awards, underscoring the category’s predictive power.
Final voting runs from Jan. 14 through Feb. 27. The 32nd annual Actor Awards, presented by SAG-AFTRA, will stream live on Netflix on March 1, 2026, from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall.
