  • Barbara Streisand — one of the few EGOT winners (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) is famous for being a singer, actress and all around movie maven and legend. Another title we can add to the mix? One that I am at least more excited about? Dog cloner. As revealed to Variety by the actress herself, Barbara Streisand‘s two dogs — Miss Violet and Miss Scarlet — were cloned from fourteen-year-old Coton de Tulear breed, Samantha. Far be it from us to question what a legend of stage and screen is doing dabbling in the ever terrifying realm of mad science, but frankly, we’re just happy to be along for the ride.

Barbara Streisand said of the dogs: “They have different personalities. I’m waiting for them to get older so I can see if they have her [Samantha’s] brown eyes and seriousness.” She’s also dressed the dogs in a purple and red sweater to tell them apart — hence the names Miss Violet and Miss Scarlett. But, we warn you Barbara Streisand, star of Funny Girl and director and star of Yentl — mess not with the science of cloning! For before your back is turned, the world shall be overrun with the clones of the mighty canine! Trod not about the grounds of the damned Ms. Streisand, for the world of the undead shall nip at your heels.

Do you think Barbara Streisand should clone more dogs, treading ever more terrifyingly into the act of playing God as described in the classic gothic novel, Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein”? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter at @WhatsTrending.
