  • In honor of International Women’s Day on March 8, 2013, the UN Women organization, which is the global champion for women and girls worldwide, gathered 25 singers and musicians from over 20 countries to record an original song titled, “One Woman.”

The UN Women YouTube channel writes: “From China to Costa Rica, from Mali to Malaysia,” men and woman have come together to create “a rallying cry that inspires listeners to join the drive for women’s rights and gender equality.”

This year’s message focuses particularly on establishing unity to overcome violence and discrimination against women, using the quote: “We Shall Shine!”
