Smashing Pumpkins’ Legend Billy Corgan Says You Can’t Make Money Making Music Anymore

The legendary Billy Corgan came by the Samsung Blogger Lounge to talk about how the music business needs the digital world to survive. He admits that the music business does not have the same impact it use too.

He said the current model for the music business is “a really ridiculous model, and it wouldn’t work in any other business, but for some reason it still works for the model business.”

In terms of how musicians are supposed to make money in this day age, Corgan has some pretty prudent remarks, “I know people will roll their eyes at this, but in the music business, I think you have to give up on the concept of making money.”

Corgan continued to say about artists and labels “people have to stop thinking of it as a victimization relationship.”
