Liam Gallagher, the iconic lead singer of Oasis, expressed his displeasure over a recent “Saturday Night Live” skit that spoofed him and his brother Noel. On Sunday, October 13, the 52-year-old musician took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his thoughts on the sketch, which featured impersonations of the Gallagher brothers by SNL cast members James Austin Johnson and Sarah Sherman.
The skit aired during the “Weekend Update” segment and humorously highlighted the brothers’ distinctive Manchester accents, frequent use of the term “legend,” and their long-standing feud. The segment also included references to the band’s classic hit “Wonderwall.” However, Liam was not amused. When a fan asked him for his opinion on the impressions the following morning, he simply replied with one word: “Excruciating.”
In a follow-up exchange, another fan remarked that the show “did you dirty,” to which Liam responded, “I wouldn’t expect anything else from them.” He further questioned the comedic intent of the impersonators, asking, “Are they meant to be comedians?” in reference to Johnson and Sherman.
Liam also engaged with a fan who claimed that the real Gallagher brothers were “a thousand times funnier” than the SNL impressions. He agreed, writing, “Exactly,” reinforcing his belief that the portrayal fell short of the mark.
Despite Liam’s criticism, Sherman appeared to take his comments in stride. Responding to Liam’s tweet about comedians, she playfully acknowledged his feedback by replying, “LEGEND 🙌 !!!!!!!!”
The skit came as Oasis gears up for its much-anticipated reunion tour, set to kick off at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, on July 4 and 5, 2025. The Oasis Live ’25 tour marks the band’s first tour in 15 years, following the siblings’ infamous split in 2009. In a statement announcing the reunion on August 27, the band said, “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

The reunion tour will cover multiple stadiums across the U.K. and Ireland before heading to North America in August 2025. The U.S. leg will begin at Toronto’s Rogers Stadium on August 24, 2025, and conclude at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City on September 12.
Despite the excitement surrounding the tour, Liam has confirmed that he and Noel will not be participating in joint interviews to promote the shows. On October 10, he explained on X that their decision stemmed from concerns over media scrutiny. “We don’t want to do interviews coz we’re scared of the media asking us intrusive questions and trying to pick holes in our relationship,” he stated, underscoring the complexity of their dynamic.
The Gallagher brothers have had a tumultuous relationship over the years, marked by public feuds and reconciliations. Fans are eager to see how their interactions will unfold during the tour, especially in light of their decision to avoid joint interviews.
As Oasis prepares for this historic comeback, the anticipation is palpable among fans. The band, known for its anthemic hits and significant influence on British rock music, has left an indelible mark on the industry. The reunion tour is expected to draw massive crowds, with many fans eager to witness the brothers perform together once again.
While Liam Gallagher’s recent comments about the SNL skit highlight his candid nature, they also reflect the ongoing interest in the relationship between the two brothers. With their tour on the horizon, fans are left to wonder how Liam and Noel will navigate their complicated history while once again sharing the stage.
