The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the nominations for the 98th Academy Awards on Thursday, with Sinners leading all films with a record-setting 16 nominations.

One Battle After Another followed closely with 13 nominations, positioning both films as major contenders ahead of the ceremony, which will be held on March 15.

The Best Picture lineup includes Bugonia, F1, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, Sinners, and Train Dreams. Among the notable inclusions was F1, which joined a field largely composed of prestige dramas and director-driven projects.

In contrast, Wicked: For Good did not receive any nominations. The film follows last year’s Wicked, which earned 10 nominations and won two Oscars.

Acting categories reflected a competitive year, with multiple high-profile contenders earning nominations across lead and supporting races. The Academy’s newer Achievement in Casting category also contributed to overall nomination totals, marking its growing role in awards recognition.
