Hannah Einbinder has a curse for Ed Sheeran, and it is dermatological. The “Hacks” star reposted a graphic listing Sheeran’s net worth at roughly $400 million and added her own line, writing, “Ed Sheeran i say this as a ginger. I hope you get a REALLY bad sunburn, the kind on the back of your entire body where it hurts to lie down or walk or sit.”
Macklemore said Monday he had been removed from the remaining U.S. dates of Sheeran’s Loop Tour after performing his protest song “Hind’s Hall” and telling the crowd at Sheeran’s Sept. 4 MetLife Stadium show that he wanted to say two words near to his heart, free Palestine.
The Israeli-American Council responded with a petition urging Sheeran to remove him, arguing the show was a concert and “not a political rally.” Sheeran’s U.S. promoter said several stadiums refused to allow Macklemore to perform, including Lincoln Financial Field, Gillette Stadium, Mercedes-Benz Stadium and AT&T Stadium.Patriots owner Robert Kraft said Macklemore’s onstage material and what he described as a broader history of antisemitic rhetoric led Gillette Stadium to bar his Sept. 25 and 26 appearances.
Kraft defended the decision, saying the venue does “not provide a platform for hate speech.” Macklemore has claimed Kraft rallied other stadium owners into an ultimatum.
Sheeran broke his silence Tuesday. In an Instagram statement, he said Macklemore’s removal was “the promoter’s decision, it was not mine,” noting the rapper’s contract was with the promoter rather than with him. He said he is appalled by the conflict, that he spent the week talking with venues to find a resolution, and that he chooses to keep his shows a place of escapism rather than a political forum.Macklemore, for his part, said neither he nor Sheeran is a victim. “The victims are the Palestinian people,” he wrote.Einbinder was among the performers who backed Macklemore this week, alongside Kehlani, Zara Larsson, PinkPantheress, Paloma Faith, MUNA and Garbage.
At the 2025 Emmys she closed her acceptance speech with a shout-out to the Eagles, a curse aimed at ICE and a call to free Palestine, and told reporters backstage that she felt an obligation as a Jewish person to distinguish Jews from the state of Israel.
