AI Creator Day Adds Rebecca Zamolo, Matt Slays and Vincent Marcus

Summary:

  • Rebecca Zamolo, Matt Slays, and Vincent Marcus to speak at AI Creator Day in LA on Sept. 29.

  • Creators will discuss turning AI into a format, production challenges, and who controls characters in interactive experiences.

  • Tickets include access to TheGrill conference the following day, with more speakers and sponsors to come.

Rebecca Zamolo, Matt Slays and Vincent Marcus are joining the lineup for AI Creator Day, the inaugural summit What’s Trending is co-hosting with TheWrap on Sept. 29 in Los Angeles.

All three have already moved past the question of whether to use AI and into the harder one of what to build with it, which is more or less the whole premise of the day. The event kicks off TheGrill, TheWrap’s flagship business and technology conference, running the following day.

Zamolo, who has built an audience of more than 50 million followers, and Matt Slays, a creator, musician and producer with more than 8 million subscribers, will talk about turning AI into a format rather than a shortcut. The husband-and-wife duo have run real-or-AI guessing challenges and handed entire days over to an AI assistant on camera, and they’ll get into how that work opens up brand partnerships. Chris Detert, co-founder and chief communications officer of Influential, moderates. His company connects brands with a creator network of more than three million, so he has a clear view of what advertisers are actually paying for right now.

The production side gets its own session. “The Arc,” Artlist’s first original AI series, premiered in London, and series director Darin Stewart will walk through how it came together, from ideation to premiere. The more interesting part is what he says about training traditional artists to work with new tools and where the workflow broke down, since that’s the part most studios are quietly figuring out in private.

Vincent Marcus, an impressionist and character creator, joins Cantina’s Katherine Rundell on a question the creator economy has not answered yet. Once a creator builds a character, who controls where it goes. Their conversation covers pushing ideas and characters past the feed into interactive experiences and persistent worlds, and what stays in the creator’s hands when that happens.

More speakers are coming in the weeks ahead. Sponsors include Artlist, Cantina, Fairground Entertainment, pocket.watch, UTA and Wispr Flow.
