Fox Went From Greenlight to Final Cut in 18 Days With AI

Jon Flynn told the AI Creator Day audience he left Google’s AI media business for Fox Entertainment because he wanted to be in the room where studios decide how to use the technology.

As head of FoxNXT, his job is helping Fox make content faster or for less. Speaking with TheWrap managing editor Roger Cheng, he said the story still comes first. “Every story we tell is king. And that story is a human story,” Flynn said.

He sees AI as one more tool and says studios owe their people training on it. “We can teach you those tools, but I cannot teach you 20 years of industry experience. I cannot teach you the art that you have inside your head and the stories that you have inside your soul,” he said.

For Flynn, savings matter for what they buy back, whether that’s an extra episode or the explosion that would have been cut. “You’re shooting an episodic with six episodes, and you’re saving 20% of every single one of them, then you get the sixth one free, essentially,” he said.

Speed is part of the pitch, too. “From the greenlight to when we were production wrapped, everything was delivered, final cut, we were 18 days,” Flynn said.

TheWrap and What’s Trending presented AI Creator Day 2026 at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles on Sept. 29, the day before TheGrill. Sponsors included Artlist, Cantina, CapCut, Fairground Entertainment, Native Foreign, pocket.watch, Rebel Audio, UTA and Wispr Flow, the official voice partner, whose Notetaker captured the quotes in this story.
