Pharrell, Elton John, Lorde, One Direction, Stevie Wonder, and many more appear on BBC Music’s cover of “God Only Knows,” the Beach Boys 1966 masterpiece, often (accurately) cited as the greatest pop song of the 1960s.

It’s an impressive line-up for the inevitably scattershot cover, which ducks in and out of horn flourishes, metal guitar riffs, and string arrangements. Brian Wilson himself sings on several verses, though his brother Carl handled lead vocals on the original.

BBC Music also makes sure we get a few memorable CGI-infused images, like this one of Dave Grohl playing the role of God in Monty Python and the Holy Grail:

  • The cover was made to celebrate the launch of BBC Music, which aims to “encompass TV and radio programming, digital services and schemes to support emerging talent including the introduction of classical music to UK primary schools.” Sales of the song will raise money for BBC Children in Need.
