Shakira is speaking out about making sacrifices in life these days and discussing her relationships following her recent split from Gerard Piqué.
The former couple confirmed the end of their 11-year-relationship back in June 2022 shortly after the Barcelona and Spain football player was accused of cheating.
Shakira, 47, has been dating Lucien Laviscount as of late that she still believes in love and will hold out hope of finding romance like those of her parents.
Shakira told Marie Claire: ‘I was in search for that man like my dad, who I’d have kids with and then make plans to be with forever – like my parents, who are still so in love.
‘I made many sacrifices for this. I was loyal. But sometimes things don’t go as planned. You move on.’
Insisting she still believes in love, she added: ‘I cannot say that I don’t believe in love because I see the example of my parents after 50 years together; how they look into each other’s eyes and hold hands and can’t live apart from each other.
‘I’ve witnessed love, I just haven’t been that lucky myself. Monogamy is a utopia.’

Shakira and Piqué met in 2010 on the set of the songstress’ Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)’ music video.
The two took their relationship public in May 2011 and welcomed son Milan in 2013 and Sasha in 2015.
In the wake of his split with the South American singer, Piqué began a romance with Clara Chia Marti.
In January last year video footage emerged which was said to have shown Gerard’s girlfriend in the footballer’s family home before his split from Shakira.
Shakira was reportedly left ‘devastated’ at the unearthed footage from August 2021, which was recorded 10 months before she announced she had split from her partner.
Gerard’s new girlfriend and co-worker Clara appeared to be in the background of a Zoom interview which was conducted from his family home in Barcelona, while Shakira was reportedly abroad with their two children.

The footage showed a woman resembling Clara in the video as Gerard spoke to US video live streaming service Twtich.
Speaking to Page Six, an insider claimed Gerard and Shakira were still living ‘happily together’ at the time.
The source said at the time that the singer was ‘devastated to learn that this woman clearly felt at home in the house they shared with their children. They were very much still together at that time.
‘It’s devastating for her to learn that this affair had been going on for a lot longer than she imagined.’
