Colman Domingo has been announced as the latest addition to the ensemble cast of the Netflix series “The Four Seasons.”

Domingo joins previously announced stars Tina Fey and Steve Carell in the series adaptation based on the 1981 film of the same name, directed by and starring Alan Alda. The original film featured an ensemble cast including Carol Burnett, Rita Moreno, Sandy Dennis, and Len Cariou. Set to begin production later this year, the Netflix series has been greenlit for eight episodes.

In “The Four Seasons,” the story revolves around three married couples who embark on seasonal vacations together. However, the dynamics change drastically when one husband decides to leave his wife and starts bringing a younger woman along on the trips. The premise was previously adapted into a 1984 TV series for CBS.

Colman Domingo brings a wealth of talent and experience to the project. Known for his remarkable performances on both stage and screen, Domingo earned his first Oscar nomination for his role in the film “Rustin,” which also earned him a Golden Globe nod. Additionally, he clinched an Emmy Award in 2022 for his outstanding guest role in the hit HBO series “Euphoria.” Domingo boasts two Tony Award nominations, one for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for “The Scottsboro Boys,” and another for his work as a producer on “Fat Ham.” On television, he’s recognized for his leading role in the AMC series “Fear the Walking Dead.” In cinema, he has graced the screen in notable films like “The Color Purple,” “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” “Zola,” “If Beale Street Could Talk,” and “Selma.”

Apart from his acting prowess, Domingo is represented by Gersh, Liebman Entertainment, and Schreck Rose.

“The Four Seasons” is co-created by Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield, all of whom previously collaborated on the acclaimed NBC sitcom “30 Rock.” The trio serves as executive producers alongside David Miner, Eric Gurian, and Jeff Richmond. Additionally, Alan Alda and Marissa Bregman, whose father produced the original film, will also produce the series. Universal Television, in partnership with Tina Fey’s Little Stranger, Inc., will handle production duties.
