Alex Cooper, the voice behind Call Her Daddy, is getting the documentary treatment. Hulu has announced Call Her Alex, a two-part series directed by Nuclear Family’s Ry Russo-Young, offering an intimate look at the woman who reshaped the podcasting landscape for an entire generation.

Set to premiere later this year, the documentary follows Cooper as she gears up for her first tour, reflecting on her evolution from a self-conscious kid in Pennsylvania to a chart-topping media powerhouse. With exclusive access and never-before-seen footage, the series dives into the personal milestones and industry-shaking moves that helped her transform Call Her Daddy into a cultural juggernaut.

From Podcast Host to Media Mogul

What began in 2018 as a raw, unfiltered sex and dating podcast co-created with Barstool Sports has since turned into a full-blown media empire. After moving to Spotify in 2021, Call Her Daddy made headlines again in 2024 with a record-breaking $125 million multiyear deal at SiriusXM—one of the biggest podcast agreements to date.

Directed by Russo-Young, Call Her Alex traces the moments that defined Cooper’s career and identity, painting a nuanced portrait of her rise in an industry still largely dominated by men. Cooper’s own Unwell Productions produced the documentary, alongside executive producers Russo-Young, Braden Bochner, and Christopher Foss. Holly Siegel serves as producer. The deal was brokered by Hulu and Lionsgate on behalf of Unwell Productions.

More Than a Success Story

While Call Her Alex chronicles Cooper’s rapid ascent, the documentary aims to do more than highlight career wins. The series will explore the emotional and personal complexities of becoming a public figure, and the weight of building a platform that speaks to millions of young women.

According to Hulu, the series is “a portrait of a woman who is creating a space where women feel seen, heard, and empowered.” In an era where podcasts are increasingly shaping cultural conversations, Cooper’s voice continues to stand out.
