Apple is set to open its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on Monday, June 9, in Cupertino, Calif., where the company is expected to unveil a series of software updates and introduce new features built on its artificial intelligence framework.
The event is expected to highlight enhancements across Apple’s major operating systems, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS, with some of the most notable changes focusing on visual design and user interface updates. While artificial intelligence is expected to play a role, Apple is anticipated to take a more modest approach compared to recent announcements from competitors such as Google, Microsoft, and Amazon.

According to reports from Bloomberg, the upcoming iOS 26 release will feature a significant visual overhaul—the most extensive redesign since 2013. These updates are expected to include modified app icons, redesigned menus, and interface changes inspired by VisionOS, the operating system used in Apple’s Vision Pro headset.
The redesign is part of a broader shift in Apple’s software naming conventions. Instead of continuing the sequential numbering used in previous years (e.g., iOS 19), the company is expected to align future updates with their release year.
Early previews shared by Front Page Tech suggest additional updates may include new tap-based interactions and a revamped Camera app, although Apple has not confirmed these features.
AI Integration in Everyday Tools
Apple is also expected to introduce new AI-driven utilities as part of its Apple Intelligence platform. These include a battery management feature that adjusts power use based on user behavior and a live translation function for AirPods. The translation feature is designed to provide real-time assistance during multilingual conversations, similar to existing tools offered by Google.
While Apple introduced its Apple Intelligence platform at last year’s WWDC, many of the more ambitious elements, such as a generative AI version of Siri, have not yet been made publicly available.

According to Bloomberg, Apple may use this year’s conference to announce that developers will soon be able to access its large language models to build AI-powered apps that run directly on Apple devices. This would represent a step toward further integrating machine learning into the company’s broader ecosystem.
Gaming Expansion
Apple is also reportedly working on a centralized gaming application to replace the Game Center app. The new platform would serve as a hub for mobile gaming on Apple devices, reflecting the company’s ongoing efforts to expand its presence in the gaming sector.
While the WWDC event is typically software-focused, industry analysts will be watching for any indications of how Apple intends to differentiate its products amid increasing competition in the AI space. Rivals such as Google, Meta, and Microsoft have made more aggressive moves into generative AI over the past year, embedding tools across productivity software, mobile devices, and social platforms.
Apple’s approach to artificial intelligence has been characterized by its emphasis on privacy and on-device processing. The company’s upcoming announcements may provide further insight into how it plans to evolve its AI capabilities while maintaining those priorities.
WWDC 2025 will include a keynote presentation on Monday, followed by a week of technical sessions for developers. Live coverage will be available on Apple’s website and through various media outlets.
