Australian Hurdler Michelle Jenneke’s Sexy Warmup Dance Goes Viral (VIDEO)
Australian hurdler Michelle Jenneke has become a viral sensation since she reigned victorious at the IAAF World Junior Championship in Barcelona last weekend. But the 19-year-old isn’t getting all the attention for her athletic merits.
After her big win, sports blog With Leather published a piece entitled, “MEET MICHELLE JENNEKE, HOTTEST HURDLER EVER,” including raw footage of the event. The blog later edited the video to highlight Janneke’s dancing and slow it down to the beat of a pop tune — sending it viral across the Internet.
Posted on July 18, the video now has over 11 million views.
Basically, Jenneke — who previously won a silver medal in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2010 Youth Games in Singapore — is serving to bring some fun attention to track and field sports with her light-hearted attitude and winning athletic ability.
It may come as a disappointment to viral viewers that she won’t be appearing at the London Games, but rumor has it that she’ll be putting those dance moves to use for Rio De Janeiro in 2016.
What do you think of Janneke’s moves? Is this helping or hindering the debates around female athletes and sexualization in the media?
