Charlie XCX made the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in 8 years with her song ‘Speed Drive’, from “Barbie” movie, and there is allegedly a music video on the way.
One of the biggest stars within the last decade has been none other than Charli XCX. The pop princess soared through the charts alongside Icona Pop with 2012’s hit ‘I Love It’. Now Charli is reaching the top of the charts yet again thanks to “Barbie”.
Fans may be able to expect a new music video coming soon, but first here’s a quick look at how Charlie went from zero to hero.
Charli XCX’s Rise to Fame
Charli XCX’s birth name is Charlotte Emma Atchison. She was born in the UK and raised in Start Hill, Essex. Growing up, XCX took inspiration from young women pop stars, such as Britney Spears and the Spice Girls.

Charli eventually got discovered after posting her music on MySpace, where she gradually grew a social media following. A promoter found XCX’s account and invited her to perform at warehouse raves. From there, the star only grew her fanbase even more. After blowing up with Icona Pop, Charli XCX continued to release hit tracks like ‘Boom Clap‘, ‘Boys’, and ‘Break the Rules’. The star currently has five studio albums released. ‘Boom Clap’ notably appeared on the soundtrack for “The Fault In Our Stars.”
The XCX in the singer’s stage name is an acronym for ‘Kiss Charlie Kiss’, which was Atchison’s MSN username in the early 2000s. But Charlie has since long surpassed her start in the Y2K era, most recently proving so with her track ‘Speed Drive’ for the “Barbie” movie.
The ‘Speed Drive’ Music Video
‘Spreed Drive’ is being hailed by fans as easily one of the catchiest tracks from the “Barbie” movie soundtrack. Now, listeners can get excited for a new music video from the star featuring a bright pink convertible in true Barbie fashion.
