Rapper Tory Lanez was just sentenced to ten years for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot back in 2020.
The celebrity court case is making headlines after finally reaching a sentencing. Tory Lanez is guilty of three felony charges as of December 23, 2022. The charges include assault with a semi-automatic firearm, possession of a concealed, unregistered firearm, negligent discharge of a firearm.
The Incident
The incident occurred in July of 2020. Those involved include the couple, Stallion’s friend Kelsey Harris, and Lanez’s bodyguard. The altercation took place shortly after the group left a pool party at Kylie Jenner’s mansion.
The pair had an argument regarding leaving the party, and eventually pulled over so Megan could get out. While walking away, Lanez pulled out a gun and fired it, striking Stallion in the foot.
The Relationship
In Megan Thee Stallion’s earlier statements she claims she was not romantically involved with Lanez. However during the trial, Stallion confirmed the two were in an intimate relationship at the time of the shooting. Stallion explains why she initially lied due to embarrassment during the trial, saying, “because it’s disgusting at this point…” “How could I share my body with someone who could do this to me?”
Originally Lanez’s defense team claimed it was actually Harris who fired the gun. However, in August of 2020 on an Instagram live, Stallion states it was Lanez who shot her.

After this, Stallion’s credibility and character are called into question in the rap world, most notably with a Drake verse allegedly about the incident. In ‘Circo Loco’, Drake raps, “This bi**h lie ‘bout getting shots, but she still a stallion/ She don’t even get the joke, but she still smiling.”
Megan responded to the suspected diss track on Twitter writing, “Stop using my shooting for clout b*tch ass N*ggas!”
The star continued, “Since when tf is it cool to joke abt women getting shot ! You n*ggas especially RAP N*GGAS ARE LAME! Ready to boycott bout shoes and clothes but dog pile on a black woman when she say one of y’all homeboys abused her.”
The Outcome
It seems as though Stallion’s credibility can no longer be called into question, as Lanez has been found guilty and will be serving ten years in prison for the charges of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, possession of a concealed, unregistered firearm, negligent discharge of a firearm.
In an interview with Elle, Megan comments on the ordeal by saying, “I view myself as a survivor, because I have truly survived the unimaginable. Not only did I survive being shot by someone I trusted and considered a close friend, but I overcame the public humiliation of having my name and reputation dragged through the mud by that individual for the entire world to see.”
