Imagine you are home relaxing with your family, maybe stuff around the house needs to get done and you step outside and see parachutist in the neighborhood which is normal living close to Camp Roberts (army base) in Atascadero California. On this particular day, you step outside, and you see one of the parachutists spiraling out of control and crashes directly through your neighbors’ roof and into their kitchen. This what happened to neighbor Rose Martin in Atascadero. Martin, who happens to be a registered nurse, she got a knock on her door from surrounding neighbors notifying her that a man crashed through the roof next door.

“So, I ran in to make sure he was okay, I checked on him, his eyes were open, but I wasn’t sure if there were any injuries.” The British parachutists were training with a group at Camp Roberts, reported by the Atascadero police says after they jumped out of the plane his parachute failed to fully deploy sending him spiraling out of control and crashing through the neighbor’s house.
Homeowner Linda Sallady told KSBY, “He came through the roof through tresses, it’s not that much damage in the house it’s amazing. It’s mostly the ceiling and the sheetrock. He missed the counters the appliances, everything. Neighbor Rose Martin says, “It’s nothing short of a miracle by my estimation, I mean who lands like that without a parachute and lives.”
According to The Sun, “He was still attached to his harness. The lines ran through the roof and the parachute was splayed on the building’s roof. The parachutist was conscious but stunned with complaints of pain but no visible injuries.” He was then transported to the hospital for treatment. He may have suffered some ankle damage pictures show his ankles bloody from the impact. “We are grateful that the parachutist received only moderate injuries and that no other persons suffered an injury, Atascadero police added (per the sun).
