As you have probably heard, Britney Spears’ 13-year long conservatorship was recently ended on Friday. With this good news, many have asked Spears what she is planning to do now that she is free. In a recent Instagram video, also posted to Twitter, she opens up and shares what she has in mind.

She first reiterates that she was in the conservatorship for 13 years, explaining that it is a very long time to be “in a situation you don’t want to be in.” She notes that she is grateful for every day, and more specifically, the things that we might not think about.

She lists that she is grateful that she now has the keys to her car and owns an ATM card. She explains that she does not want to be a victim and that she lived with victims her whole life when she was a child, which is why she worked so hard to be able to be away from that situation. She also explains that she wishes to be an advocate for people who have “real disabilities and real illnesses.” She hopes that her story will create change in the system, as she feels empathy for those who are still struggling.

Spears also takes time to thank her fanbase and those who supported her when she was trying to leave the conservatorship. She thanks the free Britney movement, saying that her voice was often muted and she was threatened, unable to open up about her story and experiences. She thanks the movement for understanding and knowing what was going on with Spears and bringing that attention to the media for awareness. In a touching statement, she tells the movement that they saved her life and wants to move forward.

Many people responded with kindness to Spears’ message, noticing how thankful she was for the small things we might take for granted, like candles. Spears also hinted to an interview with Oprah in her caption, saying “I might as well do a hint of my thoughts here before I go and set things square on Oprah.” Many people are excited for this interview and hoping it comes true, as it would be a time for Spears to have the stage and explain her side of the story to the world for the first time.
