Reflecting on the relationship and the two being in scrutiny for the breakup, Sprouse touched on the dark side of the fandom in a new interview with Vulture.

“I get a lot of stuff sent to my house or my loved ones’ houses,” he recalled. “Death threats, really nasty, honestly criminal stuff. And I do think it’s because at least four of us at this table have dated our co-workers.”

Sprouse added: “Is that just a consequence of an incredible love? Or is that what fanaticism looks like? Perhaps because those lines were blurred to our audience, it’s hard to break those things up when life moves on.”

Riverdale is currently in its seventh and final season. The series is set to wrap up next week after the near six week run on the air.

“I think it’s important to acknowledge that our show is made fun of a lot,” she said. “People see clips taken out of context and are like: ‘What? I thought this was about teenagers.’ And we thought so as well — in season 1.”

he star added: “It’s really not been easy to feel that you’re the butt of a joke. We all want to be actors; we’re passionate about what we do. So when the absurdity of our show became a talking point, it was difficult.”

The cast of the popular series have gone out to do a multitude of projects since the very first season. Reinhart starred in a recent Netflix movie Look Both Ways with a prime feature in Hustlers starring along Keke Palmer and Jennifer Lopez as well. Many of the cast members have voiced that the show keeps them busy from doing other projects, while some other cast mates have argued for higher salaries due to the success and length of the production.

Riverdale airs on The CW in the US and will end with season 7.
