The legal battle between singer-actress Halle Bailey and her ex, YouTuber and rapper DDG (Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.), has taken a sharp and emotional turn as both parties accuse each other of serious misconduct. In new court documents filed on Wednesday, June 4, DDG is requesting an emergency hearing in Los Angeles to prevent Bailey from traveling internationally with their 17-month-old son, Halo.

Bailey, 25, is reportedly scheduled to travel to Italy this weekend for a two-month film shoot and had sought court approval to bring Halo. But DDG, 27, claims that the “Little Mermaid” star poses a psychological risk to both herself and their child, and is urging the court to intervene.

DDG Seeks Emergency Travel Ban and Restraining Order

According to court filings obtained by outlets including PEOPLE and TMZ, DDG argues that Bailey’s past behavior presents what he describes as an “imminent emotional and psychological risk” to their son. His legal team cited alleged threats of self-harm by Bailey, including incidents involving a firearm during her pregnancy.

In the documents, DDG recalled a specific instance in August 2023 when Bailey allegedly took his legally owned firearm during an argument and left the house. He says he later found her holding the weapon outside. DDG also pointed to text messages where Bailey reportedly expressed suicidal ideation, one of which read, “I’m going to kill myself tonight,” along with a message suggesting Halo “might also be harmed.”

The streamer is requesting a domestic violence restraining order and seeking to bar Bailey from leaving the country with their son, arguing that international travel would remove the child from California’s legal protections.

Halle Bailey Previously Granted Restraining Order Against DDG

The couple’s legal battle began earlier when Bailey obtained a temporary domestic violence restraining order against DDG. She accused him of multiple instances of physical and verbal abuse, allegedly occurring in the presence of their son.

Bailey’s legal team has not yet publicly addressed the latest filings, but her attorney reportedly pushed back during a hearing this week, calling DDG’s allegations inaccurate. A judge is expected to rule shortly on whether Bailey will be allowed to take Halo to Italy this weekend. A full hearing on the dueling restraining orders is scheduled for June 24.

DDG’s Accusations of Parental Alienation

Separate from the safety concerns, DDG has also been vocal about what he perceives as Bailey’s attempts to keep him from being involved in Halo’s life. In a vlog titled “She Won’t Let Me See My Son,” he claimed that Bailey has restricted his visitation rights since Halo’s birth.

“I just want to be able to see my son when I want to,” he told viewers. He also alleged that he’s never been allowed more than 48 hours with Halo at a time. DDG insisted he’s committed to fatherhood, calling himself a positive role model for dads worldwide.

A Public Dispute With Private Consequences

While both parties have taken their grievances to court, elements of the feud have played out publicly. In response to Bailey’s restraining order, DDG appeared to downplay the situation on social media, writing, “I’m chillin’ btw… streaming later.” Fans criticized his nonchalant tone, accusing him of being dismissive and evasive.

Some critics took issue with his lack of a formal denial, while others interpreted his relaxed demeanor as a red flag. Notably, rapper Soulja Boy even threatened DDG online, adding to the wave of backlash.

Fan Reactions: Support, Skepticism, and Speculation

The internet has been ablaze with reactions to the latest chapter in Bailey and DDG’s increasingly messy breakup. While some fans expressed concern for Halo’s well-being, others were divided in their support.

Sending these cuties lots of love 💙,” one user posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Halle Bailey & DDG are BOTH toxic and immature the only person I feel sorry for in this situation is halo,” another added.

On the flip side, a few commenters showed sympathy for DDG’s concerns about mental health and fatherhood access.

“Halle Bailey fans tryna act like they can’t see ddg evidence,” one fan wrote.

Still, others questioned the motives behind the timing of his claims, pointing out that they surfaced only after Bailey’s restraining order.

What’s Next?

The court’s decision on Bailey’s ability to travel with Halo is expected soon, with a larger hearing set for June 24 to address both parties’ restraining orders and custody concerns. As the public watches closely, the outcome may have long-term implications not only for the parents’ legal futures but also for how high-profile custody disputes are discussed online.
