Dominic Fike is set to reprise his role as Elliot in the highly anticipated third season of HBO’s Euphoria, despite his name being omitted from a list of confirmed cast members released last week. Sources tell Variety that the Grammy-nominated artist and actor will shoot several scenes for the new season as production picks up speed. HBO has not commented on the return of Fike or provided further details.

Fike first appeared in Euphoria during its second season, which premiered in January 2022. His character, Elliot, a guitar-playing, drug-addicted teenager, quickly became a pivotal figure in the show. Elliot formed a complicated and often tense relationship with lead character Rue (Zendaya), as well as with Jules (Hunter Schafer), resulting in a love triangle that added complexity to the already turbulent storyline. His presence also presented an obstacle to Rue’s struggle with addiction, further complicating her path to sobriety.

One of Fike’s standout moments in season two came in the finale, where Elliot performed an original song on his guitar for Rue. The song, titled “Elliot’s Song,” became a fan favorite. Fike and Zendaya later released a version of the track on streaming platforms, much to the delight of fans who had connected with the emotional depth of the performance.

While the news of his return has been kept under wraps until now, Fike’s involvement in Euphoria season three is seen as a key development for the storyline. Sources indicate that he will be filming a few scenes for the new season next week, and fans can expect to see more of his character’s impact on the narrative as it continues to unfold.

In addition to his role in Euphoria, Fike has pursued a successful music career. He recently released his album Sunburn in 2023, following his earlier short album 14 Minutes. Fike has also written original songs for major film projects, including “Mona Lisa” for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and “Hey Blondie” for the Barbie movie soundtrack, further cementing his reputation as a versatile talent in both music and acting.

While Fike’s return is confirmed, HBO’s Friday announcement included several new additions to the cast of Euphoria. Grammy-winning artist Rosalía, Super Bowl champion Marshawn Lynch, and A Different World star Kadeem Hardison will join the show for its third season. Other new faces include Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Toby Wallace, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Priscilla Delgado, James Landry Hébert, and Anna Van Patten.

The majority of the core cast is also returning, including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, and Maude Apatow. Martha Kelly and Chloe Cherry have been promoted to series regulars, which signals their expanded roles in the new season. Colman Domingo will return as a guest star, continuing his important role in the series.

Notably absent from the list of returning cast members are Nika King, Austin Abrams, and Algee Smith. Storm Reid and Barbie Ferreira, both of whom previously announced their departures from the series, are also missing from the upcoming season’s lineup. Their exits mark a shift in the show’s dynamic, but fans can still expect plenty of drama and intrigue as the new season unfolds.

As production ramps up on Euphoria season three, the show remains one of the most anticipated in television, due in large part to its ability to balance raw emotion with the exploration of complex teen issues. The addition of fresh faces and the return of fan-favorite characters are sure to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

Euphoria continues to be a cultural touchstone, drawing praise for its bold storytelling, striking visuals, and its unflinching portrayal of teenage life. As more details emerge about season three, viewers can expect the stakes to be higher than ever, with the cast’s evolving relationships and individual journeys providing endless material for compelling drama. With Dominic Fike’s return as Elliot, fans can look forward to yet another chapter in the unpredictable and often heartbreaking world of Euphoria.
