Drew Afualo has struck up a notable friendship with pop sensation Chappell Roan, and she believes their bond may be written in the stars.
The 29-year-old influencer recently spoke with PEOPLE about her career highlights, including collaborations with the banking app Chime and the NBA. Her involvement in a season tip-off commercial alongside Kelly Rowland has further elevated her profile. Afualo also discussed her growing friendship with Roan, which blossomed after the singer appeared on her podcast, The Comment Section, on July 17.
After the episode aired, fans quickly speculated about the chemistry between the two, noting that Roan is a Pisces and Afualo is a Virgo. “When people watched the episode, they were like, ‘This makes a lot of sense,’” Afualo recalled. “We got along very, very well. We’re twins, she and I.”
Afualo attributes their strong connection to their astrological signs, which are “opposite” on the natal chart. She described it as “so strange” to see how opposites can indeed attract. “There’s a lot of similarity between her and I personality-wise, which I love,” Afualo said. “She’s a real earth baby too, and I’m an Earth sign,” referring to her own Virgo nature, while noting that Roan’s Water sign complements her Earth sign.
But Roan is not the only friend Afualo considers an astrological match. She also finds a deep connection with her frequent collaborator, Brittany Broski, who is a Taurus. “My friend Brittany is a Taurus, and Tauruses, I get along with Tauruses so well, oh my gosh,” she said.
Afualo is known for her outspoken views against misogynistic behavior online, so it’s no surprise she specified her affinity for “Taurus women.” She clarified, “Anyone that’s just not an awful man, obviously,” when discussing her preferences in friendships.
The social media star is currently engaged to her longtime partner, Pili Tanuvasa. She has observed patterns in her relationships with men, noting that while she hasn’t pinpointed a particular star sign for “awful” men, she has experienced friction with male Virgos. “I think more times than not, if they’re an awful man and they’re also a Virgo, they for real don’t like me,” Afualo quipped. “I just think there can’t be two of us. We’re just too alike in that sense. Yeah, I would say Virgo men — the devil. But that’s just me being biased.”
