Professional wrestler turned actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson continues to maintain a global fanbase so supportive that political parties have reportedly reached out and asked him to run for president in the 2024 U.S. presidential race.

The actor’s positive attitude and philanthropic efforts have garnered widespread support for a Johnson presidency. He revealed in an interview with Trevor Noah for his “What Now?” Spotify podcast that last year he was approached about running for the role of a lifetime. He ultimately declined the presidential run, due to his responsibilities as a father.

Noah resurfaced a 2021 political poll that claimed 46% of U.S. adults would support Johnson’s campaign for president. “That was an interesting poll that happened and I was really moved by that,” Johnson said. “I was really blown away and I was really honored. I’ll share this little bit with you: at the end of the year in 2022, I got a visit from the parties asking me if I was going to run, and if I could run.”

“It was a big deal, and it came out of the blue,” the actor elaborated. “It was one after the other, and they brought up that poll, and they also brought up their own deep-dive research that would prove that should I ever go down that road [I’d be a real contender]. It was all very surreal because that’s never been my goal. My goal has never been to be in politics. As a matter of fact, there’s a lot about politics that I hate.”

Last year, he confirmed to “CBS Mornings” that he always intended to prioritize his marriage and three daughters over entering politics. “I love being a daddy and that’s the most important thing to me is being a daddy, number one, especially during this time, this critical time in my daughters’ lives.” The actor shares daughter Ava Raine with ex-wife producer Dany Garcia and daughters Jasmine and Tiana with wife musician Lauren Hashian.

Despite Johnson’s massive fan base, many feel that the actor made the right choice. A number of celebrities have wound up becoming U.S. Presidents, including actor Ronald Reagan and former reality TV star and real estate tycoon Donald Trump. Both wound up having some of the most controversial presidencies in American history, with the latter remaining in a series of ongoing legal battles regarding tax fraud, his alleged involvement in the Capitol Insurrection, and more.

Others are holding out hope for Johnson to run eventually.

Some joked that the promotional material for a Johnson campaign would certainly be unique compared to recent candidates.

The next Presidential Election will take place in November of 2024. Current President Joe Biden is seeking re-election as a member of the Democratic Party.
