A California man has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of Eduardo Xol, a former star of the hit reality series “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” Xol, 58, who was also known for his work as a singer and actor, died after sustaining multiple stab wounds.

The incident occurred on the morning of September 10, when Xol contacted the Palm Springs Police Department seeking help. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered Xol in an apartment, suffering from severe injuries. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on September 20, as confirmed by the Riverside County Coroner.

Authorities have identified Richard Joseph Gonzales as the alleged assailant. Following the stabbing, Gonzales reportedly contacted the police later that morning to report he had been assaulted the previous night. However, during the investigation, officers connected him to the stabbing scene and determined he was likely the suspect.

Initially, Gonzales faced charges of attempted murder, but following Xol’s death, those charges were upgraded to murder and submitted to the district attorney’s office, which accepted them. The nature of the relationship between Xol and Gonzales remains unclear, though police have indicated that the two were “associates.”

As of now, it is unknown whether Gonzales has entered a plea or secured legal representation. He is currently being held in Riverside County without bail.
